Using Google Earth to Teach Social Studies, History & Geography

1 - 2 hours

When the Ontario Social Studies, History, and Geography curriculum adopted more of an inquiry approach, students got the opportunity to go exploring! Google Earth is the tool that takes your grade 4’s to the Mayan Ruins, or lets your grade 5’s trace the Viking’s path to NFLD and then use street view to examine the first Vikings settlement. I will show you at least one inquiry lesson for each grade from 4-8. I'll also give you a layout of the program and touch on how to make videos and insert place markers into the Google Earth program. Climb aboard my Magic School Bus and come on an adventure!

General audience is K-12 with a curriculum focus on grade's 4-8
